Politics of a New Paradigm

My political position consists of a new war, a “War on War,” indeed, a lasting global peace, with the resultant energy and money that is saved going toward healing our shared environment.

Any big corrective task needs to begin with finding the root causes of the problems. I feel as though we have a serious difficulty here in America that is costing us trillions of dollars, thousands of lives, and is diverting our attention from the pursuit of peace and environmental cleansing, and that is the fact that our country is being run, in large part, by people who are at once Israeli and American citizens.

I am three quarters Hungarian. My grandparents raised me, and they were not that far removed from the “old country,” so a profound connection with my Hungarian roots was instilled in me as youngster, and it persists today. Though I am of Hungarian descent, as an American citizen, I do not feel as though Hungarians should govern here and make life and death decisions in America’s behalf that support the political interests of Hungary, but do nothing to serve the interests of America. In fact, In 1956, America had an opportunity to support a Hungarian revolt against communism and chose to do nothing, kind of a Hungarian version of the Bay of Pigs. But that is another story.

I was telling a friend over the weekend about the fact that we have many dual Israeli/American citizens in government, and that they were the architects of the United States invasion of Iraq, conceived by the Project For The New American Century and elucidated in the policy paper “Rebuilding America’s Defenses.” However, even I was surprised by the size and scope of the list of Israeli/American dual citizens who are making policy that can and does compromise the interests of the American people. Here are some names, thanks to a very informative piece by Dan Eden:

Michael Chertoff, Ricard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Larry Franklin, Douglas Feith, Edward Luttwak, Henry Kissinger, Dov Zakheim, Kenneth Adelman, “Scooter” Libby, Robert Satloff, Elliott Abrams, Marc Grossman, Richard Haass, Robert Zoellick, Ari Fleischer, James Schlesinger, David Frum, Joshua Bolten, John Bolton, David Wurmser, Eliot Cohen, Mel Sembler, Steve Goldsmith, Adam Goldman, Joseph Gildenhorn, Christopher Gersten, Mark Weinberger, Samuel Bodman, Bonnie Cohen, Ruth Davis, Daniel Kurtzer, Cliff Sobel, Stuart Bernstein, Nancy Brinker, Frank Lavin, Ron Weiser, Mel Sembler, Marting Silverstein, Lincoln Bloomfield, Jay Lefkowitz, Ken Melman, and Brad Blakeman.

I do not think that these people should not have the right to hold dual citizenship in the United States and Israel. If the laws of both countries allow for it, it’s none of my business. I do think that having so many people who have Israel’s interests at heart deeply embedded in what is supposed to be a representative American democracy is clearly not a random and innocent coincidence. If you think about the percentage of Americans overall who are dual Israeli/American citizens, it must be far less than 1%, so how do they defy the odds and happen to land all of these top level policy making government posts?

I have no particular axe to grind with dual Israeli/American citizens. I would feel the same way if I noticed that there were so many dual Hungarian/American citizens with so much power, or dual Zimbabwean/American citizens so ubiquitous at the top levels of government.

My purpose in writing this is to contribute to passing along what is very obvious: the American government is largely controlled by Israeli citizens. In order for us to have an intelligent political discourse, we need to proceed from this understanding, and not have cries of “anti-Semite” shouting down anyone who wants to have a mature and informed discussion on the matter.

The “War on Terror” is being waged by America in Israel’s behalf. It is possible that most Americans are in favor of fighting and dying for Israeli interests. If that is so, as an American, I have no choice but to yield to the plurality of opinion of my fellow citizens. But I would ask that we be openly informed of the fact that dual Israeli/American citizens are shaping American foreign policy in the Middle East.

From my innocent perspective, Iran, for instance, has a lot of oil, and they are also rather cozy with Russia, so it seems to me that it would be in America’s best interests to have a productive relationship with Iran, a nation of 65,000,000 (there are just over 7 million Israelis).

The fact is that there is collusion taking place that is resulting in an inordinate number of Israeli/American dual citizens holding policy making positions at the highest levels of the United States government. It is statistically impossible to assert that these people were all simply the best qualified folks for the jobs that they hold. Clearly, there is a political “litmus test” involved in the appointment process.

Israel undertook the enormous challenge of forcing itself into Palestine, and the resultant hostilities that have ensued were a given. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry Truman knew this and that is why they assured the Arabs that the U.S. would not intervene without a balanced dialog taking place among all parties. Of course, back then, there were no dual Israeli/American citizens guiding American policy making in respect to the Middle East.

Unmitigated Americn support for Israel was never the plan, and it was never in the best interests of the United States.

Israel is well armed (thanks in large part to your tax dollars). They opted into a difficult geopolitical endgame and they were never granted all of the land that they have subsequently seized by any international governing body. They took it at gunpoint, plain and simple, and the people who they took it from are not happy about that, nor are most of their fellow Arabs.

When I hear talk of “bombing Iran,” I see this:

I am not a Muslim, a Christian, or a Jew. I am just a humble person who values all life equally. I am also an American, not a citizen of some sort of “Isramerica.” We cannot kill indiscriminately at the behest of some elements of the state of Israel and take the moral high ground against “terrorists,” because these so-called extremists will in fact be our own creations.

I have stated that my own agenda is one of global peace and resultant worldwide cooperation to heal the planet environmentally. The xenophobic, Israeli-centric, if you will, world view of the people who are shaping American foreign policy has us stuck in myopic quicksand as a new paradigm beckons.
